Tensions in northern Kosovo escalated dramatically in the second half of 2022, raising fears of a renewed conflict in the region, part of Kosovo but populated mainly by ethnic Serbs. While the situation has eased, a new flashpoint looms with the upcoming local elections in April. We look ahead to the next developments in this longstanding conflict in 2023, and the prospects of finding a lasting solution.
