Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have signed Brazilian goalkeeper Bento Matheus from Atlético Paranaense on a four-year deal, the club announced on July 17.

Al-Nassr has emerged as a major player in global football transfers in recent years, most notably with their high-profile signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in December 2022. The Riyadh-based club has since attracted other international stars such as Sadio Mané and Marcelo Brozović, signalling their ambition to compete at the highest level of Asian football and elevate the Saudi Pro League's global standing. This latest acquisition of Brazilian goalkeeper Bento continues their trend of securing young talent alongside established veterans.

Bento, 25, has joined the Riyadh-based team on a contract that runs until 2028, Al-Nassr said on their official social media account.

"The SuperBento is yellow," the club wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirming the transfer.

The signing ceremony took place at Al-Nassr's pre-season training camp in Portugal, with club chairman Ibrahim Al-Muhaideb and sporting director Fernando Hierro in attendance.

Bento, who was part of Brazil's recent Copa America squad, is considered one of the most promising goalkeepers in Brazilian football.

The move comes as Saudi clubs continue to attract high-profile players from around the world, bolstering the kingdom's efforts to become a major force in global football.

Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed.
