The South Korean government has impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol.

In the much anticipated second impeachment vote in the South Korean National Assembly, reports from Seoul point to at least 200 members of the government, the minimum number required, having voted to impeach sitting President Yoon.

In the wake of the impeachment, the president was immediately suspended. Thousands outside the National Assembly started celebrating almost as soon as news of the impeachment broke with local media reporting other celebrations breaking out around the country.
