Austria-founded company HILL International has liquidated its unit in Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Republika Srpska, a statement on the website of the entity’s agency for intermediation, IT and information services (APIF) showed.
HILL International provided no explanation on its decision. However, the Serb entity has been increasingly unstable due to its political leaders who have pushed forward plans for secession, destabilising the political and economic situation.
Since the end of February, Republika Srpska’s parliament adopted a set of laws violating the state-level constitution and the Dayton peace agreement. Meanwhile, the state court has issued arrest warrants for its political leaders – President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic and parliament speaker Nenad Stevandic.
Experts have suggested that secessionist moves would push away investors and cause significant economic difficulties in Republika Srpska.
HILL International said in the statement that it no longer has interest in operating in Banja Luka, Republika Srpska’s administrative centre.
The company was the longest operating international entity in Bosnia, setting up its headquarters in the capital Sarajevo in 1998.
HILL International is specialised in the recruitment and selection of high-level professional and managerial staff.
