Indonesia's National Data Center (PDN) in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, is set to become operational in April 2025, according to Minister of Communication and Digital Application Meutya V. Hafid. The project was initially scheduled for March, but adjustments were made due to Ramadan, Indonesia Business Post reported.
The PDN Cikarang, constructed under a Government-to-Government (G-to-G) financing agreement with France, was funded through a €16.7mn (IDR2.7 trillion) loan. The project was originally planned to be completed by Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17, 2024, and inaugurated by President Joko Widodo, but faced delays.
Equipped with 25,000 core processors, 200 terabytes of memory, and 40 petabytes of storage, the facility will operate with an initial electricity capacity of 20 megawatts (MW), expandable to 80 MW. It will meet global Tier 4 standards, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and integrating a state-of-the-art water cooling system.
Spanning five hectares with a 16,000-square-metre building area, the PDN Cikarang complex will also serve as a hub for high-level cloud computing and industrial services. The facility is designed with advanced internal and external security systems, reinforcing its role in Indonesia’s digital transformation.
