Serbia's foreign debt slides 0.2% m/m to EUR 24.07bn at end-March.

Serbia's foreign debt fell to EUR 24.07bn at the end of March from EUR 24.11bn a month earlier, the central bank said in a statement. The end-March foreign debt was, however, 6.2% higher than a year earlier. The short-term foreign debt declined to EUR 579mn at the end of March from EUR 593mn at end-Feb and EUR 1.12bn at end-March 2011. The end-March medium and long-term debt stood at EUR 23.47bn, below end-Feb's EUR 23.49bn but above the EUR 21.53bn registered a year earlier. The country's liabilities to international financial organisations rose to EUR 7.78bn at the end of March from EUR 7.71bn at end-Feb and was above the EUR 6.47bn one at end-March 2011. Its largest creditor in this segment was the IMF as Serbia's debt to the fund stood at EUR 2.029bn at the end of the third month of 2012, up from EUR 2.027bn at end-Feb and from EUR 1.91bn at end-March 2011. The country's liabilities to foreign governments and government agencies declined to EUR 2.71bn at end-March from EUR 2.72bn at end-Feb. Its debt to the London club, however, rose to EUR 697mn from EUR 692mn at end-Feb. The country's Eurobond debt rose to EUR 748mn at end-March from EUR 742mn a month earlier. Serbia had zero Eurobond debt at end-March 2011 as its obligations in the segment started occurring as of September 2011 when the bond was issued.
