The value of industrial production in Slovenia increased by 5.1% y/y in July, accelerating significantly from a 1.1% increase a month earlier, the Slovenian Statistical Office (SURS) said on September 10.

The growth accelerated due to the higher output in the key manufacturing industry, despite the fall in the mining and quarrying and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sector.

In monthly terms, the value of industrial production rose by 2.7% in July, after dropping in the previous two months.

At the annual level, production in the key manufacturing sector saw the biggest hike among sectors, of 5.7%. The output in mining and quarrying decreased 7.7% on the year while it dropped 0.8% in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sector.

In the first seven months of the year, industrial production went up 3.9% y/y.

At the annual level, turnover in industry was higher by a real 2.7%, due to higher turnover in the manufacturing industry, by 3.4% y/y.  Month-on-month the turnover in industry increased by 3%.

In 2018, industrial production in Slovenia increased 4.6% y/y, down by 3.4 pp from a year
