Syria's Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa delivered his first national address on January 30, outlining his vision for the country's political transition following significant changes in December, official media of the Syrian state broadcast on January 30.

The speech came as he received a congratulatory message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressing support for the Syrian people and bilateral relations. His speech also came after a few hours of a visit by the Emir of Qatar to the country as Doha seeks to entrench itself in the Syrian economy.

In his comprehensive address to the nation, al-Sharaa spoke directly to Syrians across all circumstances - from those in displacement camps to refugees, activists, and families of victims - marking 54 days since what he described as Syria's liberation from "54 years of the darkest forms of authoritarian rule."

The interim president announced plans to form an inclusive transitional government reflecting Syria's diversity, building new state institutions until free elections can be held.

He will establish a preparatory committee to select an interim legislative council and launch a national dialogue conference as a platform for political consultations. In the coming days, a constitutional declaration will be announced as the legal framework for the transition period.

Al-Sharaa outlined several immediate priorities for the nation. The government will focus on achieving civil peace and pursuing justice against those responsible for crimes against Syrians.

They will work toward completing Syrian territorial unity under a single authority while building strong state institutions based on competence and justice.

He added that the new government aims to establish a robust economy to restore Syria's regional and international standing.

The address stressed that this is a transitional phase requiring genuine participation from all Syrians inside and outside the country to build a future based on justice and consultation.

Al-Sharaa has positioned himself not as a ruler but as a "servant of our wounded nation," working toward Syria's unity and renaissance, he said.
