North Macedonia’s President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met on July 23 with a US delegation, including business figures associated with US presidential candidate Donald Trump, to explore opportunities for collaboration in digital transformation, her cabinet announced.
The US delegation comprised Chris Pavlovski, founder and CEO of the international media company Rumble, Howard Lutnick, founder and CEO of the US financial corporation Cantor Fitzgerald, and Devin Nunes, former Californian congressman and executive director of the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG). Lutnick and Nunes are regarded as being Trump’s close associates.
During the meeting, Siljanovska Davkova was briefed on potential collaboration opportunities with Macedonian institutions, focusing on the forthcoming digital transformation and reforms in North Macedonia.
The president welcomed the initiatives for economic cooperation and the exchange of expertise with these prominent companies. She expressed appreciation for the support from the Macedonian diaspora in fostering new opportunities and attracting foreign investment to the country.
Siljanovska Davkova highlighted the necessity of digitisation for accelerating economic growth and progress. She noted that digital advancements positively impact not only the functioning of the state but also social and developmental processes, including North Macedonia’s EU integration efforts.
A day earlier in an appearance on Telma, North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski revealed that associates of former US president Trump are exploring potential collaborations with the country, focusing on digital transformation projects.
Mickoski said that discussions are underway with major corporations. He highlighted Chris Pavlovski, who is of Macedonian origin and a key player in Rumble’s development, along with Trump's close associates Lutnick and Nunes.
