IDF conscript and hostage Agam Berger has been released from Hamas captivity in northern Gaza's Jabalya area and transferred to the Red Cross, the military confirmed on January 30, local Arabic and Hebrew language media reported.

Hamas released Berger after being held for nearly 482 days.  She served as an observation soldier and was kidnapped by Hamas from Nahal Oz during the October 7 attacks.

“The Government of Israel embraces IDF soldier Agam Berger,” the Prime Minister's Office stated. “Her family has been updated by the responsible authorities that she is with our forces. The Government, together with all of the security officials, will accompany her and her family.”

“The Government of Israel is committed to returning all of the hostages and the missing,” the announcement concluded.

Following Berger’s release, German-Israeli citizens Arbel Yehoud and Gadi Moses will also be released later in the day.

Yehoud, 28, was abducted from Nir Oz, where three generations of her family resided. Yehoud had previously appeared in a Palestinian Islamic Jihad video, reportedly filmed on January 25, coinciding with the release of four female hostages.

The third Israeli hostage set for release, 80-year-old Gadi Moses, was captured outside his home during Hamas's invasion of Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7.

His ex-wife Margalit was released on November 24 after 49 days in captivity, while his partner Efrat Katz was killed in the October 7 attack. Katz's daughter and two grandchildren were previously released during the first hostage deal.

Later, on January 30, at least another five Thai citizens are expected to be released by Hamas in a separate arrangement independent of the Israel-Hamas agreement.
