Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) exported products worth $232.47mn in 5M24, surpassing its target by 107%.

Key exported goods included 20,069 tonnes of copper products, 11,211 tonnes of zinc products, 310 tonnes of molybdenum products and 8,386 tonnes of lead concentrate.

The company also met its export forecasts for rhenium, cadmium, copper sulfate and palladium powder.

AMMC exports to over 20 countries.

In 2023, the company broke into new markets for copper rods and copper sulfate, including the US, Mexico and Finland.

The Uzbek government has prioritised the production of high-value-added products from raw materials as a key policy.

AMMC said it is monitoring and responding rising domestic demand for copper.

Its production capabilities are based on copper-molybdenum, lead-zinc, gold and silver mining, with activities across the Tashkent, Jizzakh, Namangan and Surkhandarya regions.
