The Trump Organization, in collaboration with Dubai-based Dar Global, announced plans on July 1 to construct a Trump Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking a significant expansion of former US President Donald Trump's business ventures in the Gulf region.

The luxury project, targeting Saudi and international investors, follows last week's unveiling of Trump International Oman, scheduled to open in 2028.

"We are excited to expand our presence in the Middle East," said Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, in a statement.

Ziad El Chaar, CEO of Dar Global, stated in a press release that the new Trump Tower project in Jeddah aims to attract "more international investors and vacationers."

The development comes amid scrutiny of Trump's business ties to Saudi Arabia. The Wall Street Journal reported that Saudi entities spent over $210,000 at Trump properties during his presidency. Trump has also been involved in hosting tournaments for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series since 2022.

In 2022, Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and former White House adviser, secured a $2bn investment from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund for his private equity firm, a move defended as compliant with ethics rules.

The New York Times reported that Trump recently had his first known conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman since leaving office in 2021.

During his presidency, Trump approved substantial arms sales to Saudi Arabia, including a $350 billion deal in 2017 and an $8bn emergency sale in 2019.

Specific details about the planned Jeddah development were not disclosed by the Trump Organization and Dar Global.
