Israeli authorities confirmed on October 22 that a Hezbollah-launched drone struck Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's private residence in Caesarea on October 19, causing damage to the building.

During the early hours of the morning, a Katyusha rocket was fired at the coastal city, though Netanyahu confirmed that he and his wife were absent from the premises at the time. The Prime Minister's office had initially withheld details about the impact and extent of the damage.

Images released show the damage to the building's exterior. However, overall, building images are not available by the Israeli forces in a worsening war on the country's northern border.

"We declare full, complete, and exclusive responsibility for the operation targeting the home of Netanyahu in Caesarea," the head of Hezbollah's media office announced, ending speculation about Iranian involvement in the attack.

Netanyahu said he is undeterred from his war aims following the drone attack on his private residence. "The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake," he wrote in a post on X on October 20.

His office said a drone was "launched towards" his residence in the northern coastal town of Caesarea on Saturday morning but at the time failed to confirm the attack.

Questions have emerged regarding the effectiveness of Israel's early warning systems during the incident. While alerts were triggered in the Galilots region and areas north of Tel Aviv, Caesarea experienced no warning sirens.

Adding to the confusion, the Home Front Command's various platforms, which offer notifications of aerial threats, showed no indication of activated alerts in these regions at the time of the attack.

The strike on the Prime Minister's residence and the ultimate acceptance of the strike shows Hezbollah's operational capabilities and its ability to penetrate Israeli airspace, potentially forcing Israeli security forces to reassess their air defence strategies in the region, especially after approximately one million Israelis were forced to seek shelter after a hostile drone infiltrated Israeli airspace, which the IDF took 40 minutes to strike down.
