Inflation in Bangladesh for August came in at 10.49%, down 1.17% from July due to easing food inflation, the country’s state-owned news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported on September 8, citing data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
The general point-to-point inflation rate in July 2024 was 11.66%, according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. The data showed that food inflation declined to 11.36% in August 2024 from 14.10% in the previous month, while non-food inflation slightly increased to 9.74% last month from 9.68% in July 2024.
The general point-to-point inflation in both urban and rural areas also declined last month, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported. The point-to-point inflation in rural areas in August was 10.95%, down from 11.89% in July. In urban areas, the inflation rate for August was 10.01%, down from 11.27% in July.
The wage rate index in August showed an uptrend at 7.96%, up from 7.93% in July, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics data.
