Uzbekistan’s foreign business arrivals jump 2.8x in 1H24

Uzbekistan saw a 2.8-fold increase in foreign visitors travelling to the country for commercial purposes in the first half of 2024, with the number rising to 65,000 from the 23,000 recorded in the same period of last year.

According to the national statistics agency, Turkmenistan led with 37,900 visitors who arrived for business reasons, making up 58% of the total. 

Tajikistan followed with 21,400 business arrivals, with 10,200 of these occurring in May-June. 

Afghanistan accounted for 1,500 business arrivals, China 723, and India 582, surpassing Turkey's 529.

Kyrgyzstan had 385 business arrivals, South Korea 329, the United States 199 and Russia 157. 

Other countries contributed about 1,100 visits for commercial purposes.

Uzbekistan also received 3.5mn foreign tourists in 1H24, marking a 13.3% increase y/y.

Also, 2.2mn Uzbek nationals travelled abroad for tourism between January and May.
