ESG ranking of Russian companies 2021 as of January

German-based Ratings agency RA Expert has released its 2021 environmental, social and governance (ESG) ranking for Russian companies, on January 26.

As bne IntelliNews has reported, Russian companies are becoming increasingly interested in their ESG score after Norway’s state pension fund banned investments into several major Russian corporate names in 2018 owing to their poor ESG scores.

Since then some top names, most notably Norilsk Nickel, have invested billions of dollars in cleaning up their act, despite the fact that these investments add nothing to their bottom line, nor does their share price enjoy any boost from having a better score.
