Missile sirens sounded in several northern Israeli communities on March 28, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirming two projectiles crossing from Lebanon, Israel media reported on March 28.

"Following the sirens that sounded at 07:50 in the area of Margaliot, Qiryat Shemona, Misgav Am, and Tel Hai, two projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon. One projectile was intercepted, and the other projectile fell in Lebanon," the IDF stated.

Lebanese sources reported that an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle struck a car on the Barashit-Bait Yahun highway the same morning. IDF artillery reportedly targeted areas in Kaakaaya, Kfar Kila, and Yokhmor.

Al-Mayadeen reported that Israeli artillery also targeted the area between the outskirts of Qaqaiyat al-Jisr and Kafr Sir, while phosphorous shelling hit the eastern neighbourhood of Khiam and the border town of Kfar Kila.

Israeli warplanes reportedly bombed a café in central Houla that had been targeted previously, as well as the surroundings of an inhabited house in the town.

Five rockets were fired from Lebanon towards Metula in northern Israel on March 23, according to Israeli media. Hezbollah denied any connection to the rocket fire, stating that Israel's allegations were pretexts for continuing attacks on Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli military has continued operations in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley in recent days, conducting raids that have resulted in casualties, according to Lebanese sources.

On the southern front, Israeli security forces prevented a weapons smuggling attempt from Egypt.

“The IDF, Israel Border Police, and Israel Police forces identified a drone being used to smuggle weapons from Egypt into Israeli territory. The soldiers operating in the area thwarted the smuggling attempt and confiscated nine weapons and the drone,” according to a joint statement issued by Israeli Police and IDF across local media outlets.

Internal tensions within Gaza have also escalated. Hamas has executed individuals it accused of espionage in areas where the group's officials have been targeted, sources within Hamas told Saudi-owned news outlet Asharq Al-Awsat. This development follows anti-Hamas protests carried out by Palestinians in Gaza between March 25 and 27.

Following the collapse of the Gaza ceasefire deal, it appears that both Israel and Hamas have reverted back to military force in order to achieve their goals. At the same time, continued rocket fire from Lebanon suggests that there is no guarantee that the ceasefire with Hezbollah will remain airtight over the long term.
