Lebanon's Hezbollah said on September 24 that it had used a new type of missile, the Fadi 3, for the first time in attacks on Israeli positions, marking an escalation in the ongoing conflict.
The Iran-backed group said it targeted the Samson military base, a regional equipment centre west of Tiberias, with the new missiles. Israeli media reported that four missiles hit Rosh Pinna near Safed, causing damage to infrastructure.
Hezbollah launched a barrage of attacks on various military bases and positions in northern Israel.
Israeli media reported that the group fired 105 missiles towards northern Israel within a 90-minute period.
According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, nearly 220 missiles were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory on September 24, marking the highest daily number of launches by Hezbollah since it began operations in support of Gaza on October 8.
The attacks have caused panic among Israeli settlers, with all educational activities in occupied Haifa suspended and residents urged to seek shelter.
Later on September 24, Hezbollah-linked Al Manar reported: "Hezbollah fighters strike Gesher HaZiv settlement with rocket barrages: the statement."
Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that since the start of Israeli air strikes on Lebanon, 558 people have been killed and 1,700 injured.
Al Mayadeen network earlier reported that in the past 24 hours alone, Israeli attacks on the northern Bekaa region resulted in 113 deaths and over 500 injuries.
The escalation comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, with Hezbollah saying its actions are in defence of Gaza.
