Putin arrives in Vietnam for state visit, strengthening bilateral ties

Early morning on June 20, President Vladimir Putin touched down at Noi Bai International Airport, commencing his state visit to Vietnam upon the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Putin arrived aboard the Il-96-300PU aircraft accompanied by a delegation that included Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko Dmitry Nikolaevich, and several other key officials, as reported by VnExpress.

Dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and purple tie, President Putin greeted each member of the welcoming delegation with a smile. The convoy swiftly proceeded from the airport to the Metropole Hotel on Ngo Quyen Street, Hoan Kiem District, flanked by Vietnamese traffic police ensuring smooth transit.

During his visit, President Putin is scheduled to participate in several significant engagements, beginning with an official reception at the Presidential Palace, followed by talks with President Tô Lâm and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính. The afternoon agenda includes visits to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and meetings with National Assembly Chair Tran Thanh Man, culminating in a state banquet hosted by President Tô Lâm.

This visit marks President Putin's fourth visit to Vietnam, reflecting the steadfast diplomatic relations between the two nations since their establishment in 1950. Strategic partnerships have since expanded across various sectors, including education, legal frameworks, customs regulations, healthcare, and energy, underscoring the breadth of collaboration between Vietnam and Russia.
