Bosnia’s GDP growth slows to 2.2% y/y in 2Q24

Bosnia & Herzegovina’s economy expanded by a real 2.2% year on year in the second quarter of 2024, slowing down from a 2.5% y/y rise in the first quarter, the country’s statistics office reported on September 30 (chart).

The World Bank has projected that Bosnia’s economy will expand by 2.6% in 2024, accelerating from an estimated 1.7% rise in 2023. The IMF expects 2.5% growth, while the central bank has projected Bosnia’s economic growth at 2.6% in 2024.

According to statistics office data, increase was recorded in all categories, including household final consumption expenditure (up 1.8% y/y), general government consumption expenditure (up 1.9%y/y), gross capital formation (9.6% y/y), exports of goods and services (up 1.8% y/y) and imports of goods and services (up 5.2% y/y).

In seasonally adjusted terms, second-quarter GDP moved up 0.6% quarter on quarter, after rising by revised 1% q/q in the previous three months.
