A tragic incident in Itapúa, Paraguay, has shocked the nation, as a three-year-old girl died after being sexually abused. The horrifying case came to light on August 24 when a couple brought the girl to Coronel Bogado Hospital, claiming she had collapsed. However, medical staff quickly discovered she had been dead for several hours and found multiple injuries indicating severe abuse.

Initially, the parents, Gilberto Rubén Parris Argüello and Elena Beatriz Marchaki Esteche, claimed the girl was only one year and four months old. However, an autopsy later confirmed she was at least three years old and had suffered extreme malnutrition. The coroner, Marilda Torrasca, confirmed that the trauma from the abuse led to the girl's death. The severity of the case led to the arrest of the parents and the girl's maternal grandmother, Jorgelina Salvadora Esteche, who lived with the family in Encarnación.

During a raid at the family's home, police found blood-stained sheets, diapers, and other evidence suggesting ongoing abuse. The authorities also discovered that the mother frequented a local brothel, raising further suspicions. Prosecutor Rodolfo Colmán stated that the girl's father might have been responsible for the abuse, and he criticised the lack of action from the mother and grandmother.

The case has sparked public outrage, with hundreds of people taking to the streets in Coronel Bogado demanding justice for the young victim.
