The unemployment level in Czechia was at 3.9% in September, which is a slight spike upwards from the level of 3.8% in August and July. Year-on-year unemployment rose by 0.3 percentage points, or by 27,885 persons.

“Unemployment is still ranging between 3.5% and 4%,” commented the CEO of the Czech Labour Office, Daniel Kristof. “There continues to be a higher number of applicants than a number of openings,” he continued, pointing out that his office helped 31,800 persons found new jobs in September, which is “the highest number” on record.

Overall, there were 52,806 job applicants registered with the Labour Office in September with Moravian-Silesian and Central Bohemian regions registering the highest increases month on month.

There were also 143,360 Ukrainians working in the country under the temporary protection scheme, with 62% of these being women and 15,619 registered as job applicants. They comprised 5.4% of all job applicants, a slight increase from 4.7% in August. Most of the jobs carried out by Ukrainians are in manual labour, including construction, manufacture and transportation.
