Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned Israel of a "firm and decisive" response to any "mistake" during a joint press conference with Qatar's Emir late October 2, as the two countries signed several cooperation agreements.

Pezeshkian made the comments less than 24 hours after the Islamic Republic launched 180 ballistic missiles from its territory into Israel, killing one person in the West Bank. 

"If the Zionist regime makes a mistake, the Islamic Republic of Iran will give it a firm and decisive response. We are seriously committed to this position," Pezeshkian said, according to Iranian state news agency ISNA.

Qatar, which owns the Al Jazeera news network, has been openly critical of the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon. Israel in response raided the offices of the news network in the Wet Bank on October 1.  

The Iranian leader said that creating insecurity and spreading crisis were among the "evil goals" of Israel in the region, which must be prevented.

Pezeshkian's comments came amid heightened tensions following Iran's recent missile attack on Israel, which Tehran said was in retaliation for an Israeli strike that killed a senior Hamas leader in Lebanon.

The Iranian president also stressed the importance of regional unity, saying, "The nations of the region are brothers, and it is necessary to strengthen unity and empathy among themselves. If we are united and cohesive, the Zionist regime will not dare to commit such crimes and killings."

Pezeshkian expressed hope that as a result of the consultations during this trip, cooperation would expand in various scientific, technological, joint production, educational, tourism, and commercial fields.

The Iranian leader also addressed Western countries, urging them to restrain Israel: "The Americans and Western countries should ask their agent in the region to stop this killing and crime and not make the region insecure because insecurity is not in anyone's interest, not even in the interest of European countries and America."

During the visit, Qatar and Iran signed several agreements to enhance cooperation in various fields, including culture, education, sports, and trade.

On the side of the meetings, a joint declaration was signed between Iran and Qatar on enhancing cultural cooperation, including the second executive programme of the cultural and technical cooperation agreement for the years this year and next.
