Kosovo's police have suspended the operations of the Serbian-run water supply and waste company Novo Javno Preduzece in Strpce, acting on a request from the Kosovo’s Ministry of Economy, the ministry announced on April 23.

The move is part of Pristina’s efforts to curb parallel institutions operating under Belgrade’s directives within Kosovo.

The Ministry of Economy stated that it remains committed to serving all citizens equally across the country and thanked the Kosovo police for their support. It also urged the prosecution to launch an investigation into the damages and illicit benefits linked to the company’s unauthorised activity.

However, the decision has drawn sharp criticism from the largest party representing Serbs in Kosovo, the Serb List (Srpska Lista), which described the action as a "brutal intrusion" and "harassment" of employees in Leposavic and Strpce, Kosovo-online reported.

The party accused Pristina of using pressure and institutional violence to make life more difficult for Serbs in Kosovo.

“This is a calculated attempt to deflect attention from the outgoing authorities’ failure to ensure political stability and elect the president of the Assembly,” Srpska Lista said.

It also warned that raids on Serbian institutions—including health, employment, and pension services—violate the Brussels Agreement and aim to drive out Kosovo’s Serb population.

Srpska Lista called on the international community, particularly the EU, UNMIK, KFOR, EULEX and Quint embassies, to intervene and protect the rights of Kosovo Serbs.

Previously Pristina has shut down multiple Serbian-run parallel institutions in the north of the country. Recent closures include a tax office in North MitrovicaSerbian social work centres in in Zubin Potok, Leposavic, and Zvecan and Post of Serbia offices
