Iran’s first signal intelligence vessel, named Zagros, was integrated into the Army's Naval Combat service on January 15, Tasnim reported.

The ship represents a new class of naval vessels, fully developed by domestic experts from the army's navy, the maritime industries of the Ministry of Defence, and knowledge-based companies.

According to Iranian media, one of the most crucial operational features of this vessel is its array of electronic sensors, an advanced integrated mast capable of accurately calculating the effects of electromagnetic waves, the ability of active and passive interception, conducting cyber operations, and performing intelligent monitoring.

Admiral Shahram Irani, Commander of the Iranian Army’s Navy, said Zagros will be “the watchful eye of the Iranian navy in the depths of seas and oceans.”

He added that the latest technologies in the fields of electromagnetism, electronics, and cyber at the subsurface, surface and air levels have been used in this vessel.

Iran has heightened its display of military capabilities in recent months amid rising tensions following exchanges of fire with Israel and risks of a broader conflict with the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.

Earlier this week, the Iranian Army took delivery of 1,000 drones during a ceremony held in different parts of the country simultaneously.

The Iranian Army’s Commander-in-Chief Abdolrahim Mousavi said during the ceremony that the integration of new equipment, unveilings and military exercises throughout the geography of Iran show the capability and readiness of the country’s armed forces.

“The enemies of Islamic Iran had better not to gamble on their luck," he said.

Last week, Iran unveiled an underground missile facility that it says was used to launch recent attacks against Israeli military targets as a show of force following a year of military losses in its network of allies across West Asia, including in Syria and Lebanon.
