Number of foreign-invested companies in Uzbekistan grows by 340 in February to 15,503

The number of foreign-invested companies in Uzbekistan grew by 340 in February to 15,503, according to the state statistics agency.

There were 4,011 joint ventures and 11,492 wholly foreign-owned enterprises that fell into the category as of March 1.

China continued to dominate, extending its lead in first place for foreign-invested enterprises. Some 3,576 Chinese-invested companies were recorded as operating in Uzbekistan, up by 109 month on month. 

Russian-invested companies were in second place with 3,016 enterprises. The figure increased by 43 during February. 

Turkish-invested companies were in third place with 1,899 enterprises (up by 30 m/m).

Kazakh-invested companies were fourth with 1,082 (up by 22 m/m). 

In fifth were South Korean-invested companies with 662 (up by only two compare to January).

Other key players in foreign-invested companies included the UAE (347), Tajikistan (329) and India (316). 

The number of companies with US capital grew by four to 307. Kyrgyzstan rounded out the top 10 with 303.

Also, in February, Uzbekistan secured over $3bn in foreign investment, marking a 40% y/y gain, as per Spot, which cited Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev.

By the end of 1Q24, Uzbekistan aims to have attracted $8bn acros the full quarter, with a focus on credit lines, infrastructure and business support.
