Bosnia & Herzegovina’s prosecution said it has launched an investigation into possible radical religious influence on a 14-year-old who attacked a police station, killing one and wounding another officer.
On October 24, the teenager entered Bosanska Krupa’s police station, stabbing two officers. The attacker was immediately arrested.
Subsequently, Bosnia’s state security agency, SIPA, raided several sites and arrested several people suspected of influencing the juvenile and inciting the attack. Six of them were transferred to the prosecution by SIPA.
“After questioning the suspects, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH submitted a proposal to the Court of BiH to impose prohibitive measures for a total of five suspects who are under investigation for a terrorist act in Bosanska Krupa, in order to ensure the smooth conduct of the investigation,” the prosecution said in a statement on October 29.
The suspects were left in house arrest and are banned from contacting suspects and witnesses in the case for all suspects.
“The Department of Terrorism continues to investigate, as well as conduct a financial investigation into the activities of individual persons, as well as non-institutional and radical religious associations that are linked to the committed terrorist act,” it added.
According to N1, the prosecution is probing a possible connection between the religious school the teenager had been visiting and the terrorist attack. The authorities are investigating the financing of the school, as well as its operations.
