Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has announced on X that Iran’s military operations against Israeli military and security targets have come to an end, unless further provoked.

Araqchi explained that the missile strikes were executed under Iran’s right to self-defence, as outlined in Article 51 of the UN Charter. Iran claims that the strikes specifically targeted key Israeli military sites that Iran holds responsible for the recent actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

He stressed that Iran had exercised significant restraint over the past two months, refraining from military action to provide an opportunity for a ceasefire in Gaza.

"This action was our right, and it was limited to those responsible for the massacres in Gaza and Lebanon," Araqchi said. "Our operation is over, unless the Israeli regime opts for further escalation."

The missile strikes came after a series of high-profile assassinations, including the deaths of key figures such as Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, prompting Iran’s response.

Araqchi warned that should Israel choose to retaliate, Iran will respond with even greater force, signalling that any future aggression will be met with a powerful and decisive counterattack. The situation now hinges on Israel's next move, with regional tensions remaining high.

He also discussed the issue in phone calls with his counterparts from the UK, Germany and France.
