Iran's foreign ministry summoned the ambassadors of Britain, France and Germany on April 14 for their respective countries' "irresponsible positions" about Iran's retaliatory strike on Israel, the ministry reported on its website.

Iran launched more than 300 drones and cruise and ballistic missiles against Israeli location late on April 13, in response to Israel's attack on its embassy compound earlier in the month that killed seven military officials, including two top commanders.

The Iranian foreign ministry slammed the three Western countries for their "dual approach" to the actions of Israel and Iran.

While refusing to denounce Israel's aggression on Iran's diplomatic locations, the three states condemned Tehran's exercise of its inherent right to legitimate defence stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, the ministry pointed out to the ambassadors.

The foreign ministry pointed out that the attack was carried out in response to a series of crimes committed by Israel, including the recent embassy aggression.

The ministry also reaffirmed Iran's adherence to the principles and goals of the UN Charter and international law, stressing that Tehran is determined to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests against any illegal use of force.

"Iran has constantly sought to prevent the escalation of tensions via all means, but if the adventures of the Zionist regime continue, it will vigorously defend the sovereignty, security and peace of its people and protect its legitimate interests against any aggressive military actions and the use of force."

Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, said Iran's strike on Israel had successfully concluded, Tasnim News Agency reported on April 14.

The strike was a retaliatory operation in response to Israel's strike on the consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1, but warned of a more robust response in case of further aggression by Israel.

Speaking on state television on April 14, he said the operation had achieved all its objectives.
