The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has initiated a comprehensive operation to establish long-term military positions inside Syrian territory, including the strategically significant Mount Hermon region, according to military sources and recent photographic evidence.

The IDF's Technology and Logistics Division is overseeing the extensive deployment of winterised infrastructure, marking a significant expansion of Israel's military footprint in the area.

Aerial photographs reveal the construction of multiple housing complexes featuring climate-controlled living quarters, sanitation facilities and power generation systems.

The military installation, visible in recent imagery, showcases rows of white containerised housing units and large military-grade tents designed for sustained occupation.

Infrastructure improvements include installing electrical systems, as evidenced by the compound's utility poles and power lines. Military logistics convoys have been documented, and day and night operations have been conducted to support the buildup.

Forces stationed at higher elevations on Mount Hermon have received specialised alpine warfare equipment, indicating preparation for extended operations in extreme weather conditions. The deployment includes reinforced portable structures specifically engineered to withstand harsh winter environments.

“The IDF is currently completing the construction of temporary living quarters insulated for the cold, toilet containers, showers, generators and radiators, for the fighters in the field,” the information from Israeli journalists suggested.

Similar winterisation efforts are being implemented across other operational theatres, including southern Lebanon, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The scale of the infrastructure deployment suggests preparations for an extended military presence after ongoing incursions deeper into Syrian territory since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, representing a notable development in Israel's regional military strategy.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has ordered troops to "prepare to remain" in the buffer zone throughout the winter months, according to AFP. This follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's declaration that the annexed Golan would be Israeli "for eternity."

"We have taken a series of intensive actions in recent days," Netanyahu said in a video statement. "Within a few days, we destroyed capabilities that the Assad regime had built over decades."
