Istanbul-listed Koc makes Top 20 for first time in Global 500 Family Business ranking

Largest Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding (KCHOL) has for the first time made the top 20 in the Ernst & Young (EY) and University of St. Gallen Global 500 Family Business Index, EY said in a press release on the 2025 edition of the ranking.

The combined revenues of the Top 500 rose by 10% y/y to $8.8 trillion in 2024.

US-based Walmart Inc (New York/WMT), launched in 1962 by the Walton family, remained the largest family-owned business in the world with $648bn of revenues in 2024.

Koc, launched in 1926 by Vehbi Koc, was ranked at 19th spot with $68bn of revenues.

Yildiz Holding, launched in 1944 by Sabri Ulker, was ranked in 107th place with $17bn revenues.

AG Anadolu Grubu Holding (AGHOL), Sabanci Holding (SAHOL), Borusan Holding, Zorlu Holding and Dogus Holding were the other ranked companies from Turkey.

The combined revenues of the seven Turkish companies stood at $132bn in 2024.

In the Forbes’ Richest People In The World 2025 ranking, Murat Ulker, owner of Yildiz Holding (a conglomerte that owns snack giants Pladis and Ulker (ULKER)), remained the richest Turk.

Ipek Kirac, Sevim Arsel and Rahmi Koc are the billionaire members of the Koc family, Turkey's richest family.

Ferit Sahenk, Filiz Sahenk and Deniz Sahenk are the owners of Dogus Holding.
