The unemployment level in Slovakia inched down to 3.83% in September. This is down by 0.04 percentage points month on month and by 0.15 pp year on year.
The country’s Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family highlighted that unemployment dropped despite the increased number of graduates registering as job applicants. While there were 3,624 newly registered job applicants in August, the figure was 8,088 in September, making it “4,464 high school graduates,” Minister of Labour Erik Tomas noted.
“By the end of the year, the number of unemployed high school graduates could drop by 20%,” Matej Belin, an analyst at the Ministry’s Institute for Social Politics stated, referring to “the development from the previous years.”
Overall, there were 166,028 registered job applicants and 138,900 of these were in productive age. The share of job applicants in productive age in the productive age population was 4.57% - down from 4.61% in August and 4.72% last September. The number of available job posts was 95,704. The number of available job posts suitable for graduates was 44,935.
