April inflation in Uzbekistan was officially recorded at 0.82% m/m and 11% y/y. (chart)
The monthly figure was the lowest recorded in at least five years, according to the national statistical agency.
The composite consumer price index (CPI) rose by 3.28% from January to April, 1 pp than in the same period of 2022.
April’s annual inflation was higher than the figures recorded for April 2021 and April 2022.
Food prices during April rose 1.2% m/m and 13.7% y/y. Food inflation accounted for close to two-thirds of price growth in the month.
Following a winter spike, onion prices dropped back by 12.4% across April, but remained twice as high as last year. Frost impacting crops has been a factor.
Inflation in manufactured goods declined to 0.5% m/m and 9.3% y/y.
