China remained Uzbekistan top trade partner in the first two months of this year with a mutual trade turnover of $2.1bn, according to preliminary data from the Statistics Agency, Daryo reported on March 21.

The result underscores the deep-seated economic ties between Uzbekistan and China and its importance in the region.

Russia was in second place with a turnover of $1.7bn, illustrating the enduring economic connections between the two nations. Next door neighbour Kazakhstan is the another key regional player in third place and trade ties between the two countries are flourishing as cross investment grows. The Uzbek-Kazakh trade turnover grew to $581.8mn, emphasizing the importance of intra-regional trade.

Amongst the other top 10 trading partners were Turkey, Korea, France, Turkmenistan, Germany, India, and Afghanistan.
