The export of IT services from Serbia reached €3.4bn in 2023, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristic announced at the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva on May 30.

Serbia boasts a robust engineering tradition and a rapidly growing ICT sector. During the announcement, Ristic said that the government of Serbia is committed to enhancing electronic administration services for both citizens and businesses.

As part of Serbia's ongoing digitisation efforts, the country has developed a central state portal, eAdministration, along with several specialised portals enabling citizens to perform various tasks electronically.

Serbia’s IT sector has been bolstered by the influx of Russian IT specialists since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022. Several prominent Russian companies have relocated their operations to Serbia, bringing jobs and new expertise.

Tech giant Yandex has established its largest international office in Belgrade. In June 2023, Yandex announced plans to open a development centre employing over 800 engineers dedicated to advancing modern IT solutions in Serbia.

The presence of high-profile companies like Yandex and the influx of highly qualified specialists are expected to accelerate Serbia's transformation into a regional IT hub.
