Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, performed prayers over the coffins of the seven murdered Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in Tehran late on April 4.

The dead, including Iran’s most senior figures in the extra-territorial Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Brigade in Syria, including General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, were killed in the Iranian embassy by an Israeli airstrike on April 1.

The attack, allegedly by Tel Aviv but not confirmed, was believed to have killed at least 18 IRGC commanders and advisers in the most prominent hit since the killing of Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in 2020.

Khamenei has been muted in his responses in recent days, which has caused concern across the region, including Israel, which has called in all reservists, fearing an imminent Iranian air strike.

The supreme leader, however, did tweet late at 2a.m. Tel Aviv time in Hebrew on X: “With God's help we will make the Zionists repent of their crime of aggression against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.”

Those comments came around the same time several Sunni Islamic militants opposed to the Shi’ite-led Islamic Republic from the Sistan and Baluchistan region bordering Pakistan went on multiple offensives within the country, killing at least 11 police and security forces.

The Jaish ul-Adl militant group has claimed responsibility for the operations which led to the death of at least 15 of their members, according to Iranian officials in the latest of attacks on the country by the groups operating on the border with Pakistan. 

The attacks targeted an Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) base in the city of Rask and two others in Chabahar.

For a second night across central Israel, people have headed to bomb shelters, fearing the worst.

Reports from local news agencies in Tel Aviv report Israelis have rushed to supermarkets fearing a potential Iranian attack.

Banks have also been instructed to prepare for large-scale cash withdrawals from ATMs, i24 News reported.
